FINANCIAL STATUS
The main source of finance for Kerala Water Authority are grants and loans from Government of Kerala, Grants from Govt. of India, loans from Hudco and LIC and Water charges collected from consumers and local bodies. The assistance towards projects financed by Government of Nehterlands, Denmark and World Bank are received through the plan budget of Government of Kerala. The assistance from Government of Kerala are in the form of loans and grants. The assistance towards Centrally Sponsored Accelerated Rural Water Supply Schemes, assistance towards 50% / 75% Centrally Sponsored Technology Mission Schemes and other schemes approved by RGNDWM are received as grant from Government of India.
The accumulated excess of expenditure over the income (as on 31-3-06) since its formation was Rs.
1292.00 crores. There have been
substantial improvements in revenue collections since the Authority was formed, but the
astronomical increase in expenditure had over shadowed the performance. The
following chart gives the picture of income and expenditure of the Authority for
the last five years.
